Julien Henric

Originally from Lyon, Julien Henric studied theatre and opera singing in his home town. In 2018, he was named “révelation lyrique” by ADAMI and won three prizes at Young Artists Raymond Duffaut Competition. Continuing in this vein, he won 2nd prize and the melody prize at the Concours International des Symphonies d’Automne de Mâcon the following year. He graduated from the CNSMDL in 2020 and immediately joined the Jeune Ensemble du Grand Théâtre de Genève for the 20-21 and 21-22 seasons, two first seasons marked by major artistic encounters. He also won the 1st Prize for French Melody and the 3rd Prize for Opera at the Marmande International Competition in 2022.

Julien Henric has performed at the Festival International d’Art Lyrique d’Aix-en-Provence, at the Philharmonie Köln and Hamburg Elbphilharmonie; at the Opéra National de Paris; at the Donizetti Festival in Bergamo; at the Opéra Grand Avignon, at the Opéra National du Rhin; at the Olympia Theatre in Athens; the Opéra de Saint-Etienne; the Auditorium Nacional de Música de Madrid; the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées; the Opéra de Rouen; the Festival d’Été des Nuits Lyriques de Marmande; and the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Opéra National de Bordeaux, the Opéra Royal de Versailles and the Ravenna Festival.

Over the years, he has had the opportunity to work with directors such as Calixto Bieito, Jacopo Spirei, Mariame Clément, Ulrich Rasche, Daniel Kramer and Krzysztof Warlikowski. He has also worked with great conductors such as John Nelson, Marc Minkowski, Stefano Montanari, Thomas Adès, Raphaël Pichon and Pierre Dumoussaud.

Among his recent roles, Laërte in Hamlet (Thomas) at the Salzburg Festspiele and at the Teatro Regio di Torino, Tébaldo in L’Ancêtre (Saint-Saëns) at the Auditorium Rainier III with the Palazzetto Bru Zane, Don José in Carmen (Bizet) at the Shanghai Opera, Le Chevalier de la Force in Les Dialogues des Carmélites (Poulenc) at the Opéra de Rouen Normandie.

In 2025-2026, Julien Henric returns to the stage of the Grand Théâtre de Genève as Walter in Tannhäuser (Wagner), at the Opéra National de Bordeaux as Count Vaudémont in Iolanta (Tchaïkovsky) and as Mirko in La Montagne Noire (Augusta Holmès) with the Palazzetto Bru Zane, at the Opéra national du Rhin as Mylio in Le Roi d’Ys (Lalo), and in concert for Mozart’s Requiem in Salzburg under the baton of Roberto González-Monjas, and in Edimburgh with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra conducted by Riccardo Minasi. He is also performing at the Auditorium de la Maison de la Radio in Paris for Clémence de Grandval’s Stabat Mater as well as Berlioz’s Messe Solennelle with the Orchestre national de France.
