Narrator / Baritone
In addition to his work in film and theatre, Lambert Wilson has performed in numerous concerts on the most prestigious classical stages in France and abroad.
After studying singing, with a particular focus on the musical theatre repertoire, he recorded “Musicals” for EMI Classics in 1989 – an album dedicated to the great classics of the genre, featuring the Monte Carlo Orchestra. In the years that followed, he presented the musical show “Lambert Wilson Chante”, the show and album “Démons et Merveilles”, featuring the most beautiful songs from French cinema under the musical direction of Bruno Fontaine, the show “Nuit Américaine”, and Stephen Sondheim’s “A Little Night Music” at the Théâtre du Châtelet and the Royal National Theatre in London.
Also at the Châtelet, then at the Opéra National du Rhin and La Scala in Milan, he performed in Bernstein’s Candide, directed by Robert Carsen, as well as in The King and I, alongside mezzo-soprano Susan Graham.
In 2016, he presents “Wilson chante Montand”, a show (recorded for Sony Classics) which toured France in 2017 before being performed in Montreal and New York.
Since 2021, Lambert Wilson has been presenting a symphonic concert centred on the works of Kurt Weill, alongside pianist and arranger Bruno Fontaine, notably with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire for the project’s premiere in Nantes, the Orchestre National de Lille and the Lemanic Modern Ensemble, with whom he has performed notably at the Grand Théâtre de Provence.
As a narrator, Lambert Wilson has taken part in numerous concerts combining text and music (The Soldier’s Tale, Manfred, Orpheus, La Danse des Morts amongst others), under the baton of conductors such as M. Rostropovich, S. Ozawa, M. Corboz, F. Welser-Most, M. Janowski, G. Prêtre, K. Masur, J. Pons, V. Guergiev, T. Sokhiev…. He has collaborated notably with the Orchestre National d’Île-de-France, the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris and the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie, and has performed at the Philharmonie de Paris – Cité de la Musique, the Salle Gaveau, the Festival d’Auvers-sur-Oise and the Festival Berlioz…
He regularly collaborates with Roger Muraro, Jean-Philippe Collard and Augustin Dumay, Michel Dalberto, Philippe Cassard, Pierre Génisson, Xavier de Maistre…
Lambert Wilson has made numerous recordings (Le Roi David (Corboz), Oedipus Rex (Welser-Möst), Peter and the Wolf (Plasson), Rédemptions (Plasson), A Little Night Music (Cuneen), as well as Le Gendarme Incompris, Lélio (Ch. Dutoit) and Peer Gynt (G. Tourniaire).
His 2026–2027 season features two world premieres: a work by Fabien Cali with the Orchestre National d’Avignon-Provence, followed by a performance at the Stockholm Konzerthuset of a new work by Betsy Jolas. Lambert Wilson will also reunite with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France for a tribute concert to Georges Delerue, followed by a performance with the Choeur de Radio France in Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty. He will resume his role in Bernstein’s Candide alongside the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, and will join the Lemanic Modern Ensemble again for their Kurt Weill project and in The Soldier’s Tale.
